There are several funding options that you may be able to utilise to access our services either for free or heavily rebated.
Stepping Stones Therapy Services is a registered therapy provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme/NDIS. This means that, if you are living within an NDIS site, we are a recommended provider, and are able to provide a range of services through this funding scheme in a trans-disciplinary package. You will need to speak to your Local Coordinator to determine if you are eligible and to create a plan in collaboration with us. Alternatively, visit http://www.dsc.wa.gov.au/Am_I_Eligible/ to use the Disability Service Commission’s ‘Am I Eligibile’ Calculator.
Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) Funding Scheme
This funding is for children who have a diagnosis of autism and are between the ages of 0-7. It provides you with up to $12,000 to spend on registered Speech Pathology, Psychology and Occupational Therapy services, as well as resources that may be beneficial for your child’s progress. Stepping Stones Therapy Services is registered as a service provider for this funding scheme, however this funding scheme is slowly phasing out as NDIS continues to roll out.
Better Start for Children with a Disability Funding Scheme
This funding works in exactly the same way as the HCWA funding (described above). The difference is that this funding is applicable for the following disabilities: Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fragile X Syndrome, a moderate
(or greater) vision or hearing impairment, Prader Willi Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Kabuki Syndrome, Smith-Magenis Syndrome, CHARGE Syndrome, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, ‘Cri du Chat Syndrome, and microcephaly.
You need to be registered as a part of this funding scheme BEFORE your child turns 6, in order to be eligible. Again, Stepping Stones Therapy Services is registered as a service provider for this funding scheme, however this funding scheme is slowly phasing out as NDIS continues to roll out.
Chronic Disease Management Medicare Funding
(item numbers 10970/10958)
Formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care Plans, these are forms that can be completed by your GP for children requiring medical/allied health assistance from at least two different developmental areas.
If your GP considers your child to be eligible, this plan will entitle you to 5 rebated sessions per 12 months (i.e., the plan can be repeated every 12 months). You are still required to pay the full amount of all sessions on the day of the appointment, however when you take/post your receipt to Medicare, they will then provide you with a rebate.
Stepping Stones Therapy Services is a registered provider under the Chronic Disease Management Medicare Funding.
Better Access Funding
(item numbers 82020/82025)
This is another Medicare-funded program, however this must be organised by your Paediatrician. The funding will entitle all children under 15 who have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Pervasive Developmental Disorder to 20 rebated sessions for Speech Pathology, Pyschology and/or Occupational Therapy. As with above, you are still required to pay the full amount of sessions on the day of the appointment, however when you take/post your receipt to Medicare, they will then provide you with a rebate. Unlike the above, you cannot repeat this funding every year.
Stepping Stones Therapy Services is a registered provider under the Better Access Medicare Funding.
There is additional Better Access funding available for those wishing to use our services for an Autistic Spectrum Disorder assessment.
Post Intervention Therapy Services (PITS) Funding Scheme
Post Intervention Therapy Services funding provides children with access to Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy services after they have undergone Botox or surgery at Princess Margaret Hospital. The number of sessions available depends on a number of factors. Stepping Stones Therapy Services can provide therapy with our Occupational Therapy services through PITS funding.
Private Health Rebates
Stepping Stones Therapy Services is also a registered provider under all known Private Health companies to date. To access this funding option, you will still need to pay the full amount on the day of your appointment, however when you then post/take the receipt to your Private Health Provider, you will receive a rebate. Please contact your Provider for information regarding rebate amounts/restrictions.
