Leeann Hudson

Leeann is another of our Psychologists at Stepping Stones. Leeann has completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology Major), a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma of Education, which enabled her to gain a solid understanding of the education system, the pedagogy of teaching and curricular expectations placed on children.  Leeann has experience working both in the educational setting as a School Psychologist (where she completed her provisional registration), as well as more recently working in the disability sector as a Psychologist.

Leeann has experience in providing various therapeutic services including positive behaviour reinforcement, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused brief therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy (using a strengths-based approach) and psychoeducation.  She also assists with self- regulation strategies, social stories, social skill development, positive parenting techniques and advocacy within the educational setting.

Leeann has worked with children and adults who have presented with anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, bullying concerns, self-harm and suicidal behaviour, language disorders, neglect, developmental delays, trauma, medical concerns (i.e. epilepsy and diabetes), disabilities, sensory regulation issues, behavioural concerns and genetic disorders (i.e. Fragile X and chromosomal microdeletions).

Leeann has a keen interest in assessment, and is looking forward to providing assessment supports to our Stepping Stones families, including creating Positive Behaviour Support plans, cognitive testing, and assessments exploring learning concerns, anxiety, etc.

Leeann also has a special interest in autism spectrum disorder.  She is undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Autism Diagnosis in 2021 to learn more in this area.

Outside of work you may see Leeann walking her dog in the great outdoors, spending time with her kids or trying to practice yoga!
